Wanted: Actors for CONTAINED – An extraordinary queuing experience

For an immersive performance on migration during NUIT BLANCHE, we are looking for experienced actors who contribute to an entertaining, intriguing and playful immersive theatre piece on what it feels like to be a migrant in a new place. This immersive performance strikes a balance between improvised comedy, scripted immersive / invisible theatre and a serious message.

A 3-day rehearsal process where an international team of a researcher / director, an improv coach and a theatre maker from Oxford, UK work with a small group of experienced improv actors from Brussels / Belgium, hopefully with affinity with migration, will be designed to develop a tailor-made and locally embedded piece, based on the actors’ input.

Rehearsals take place on 28 / 29 / 30 September 2016, 8 hours per day. Provisional time frame 10.00-18.00, but can be adjusted to the availability of the group. The performances during Nuit Blanche on October 1st 2016 comprise 6-8 short performances of 10-15 minutes between 19.30 and 1 am.

Available for rehearsals and performance dates;

Knowledge of English (this will be the main lingua franca during the rehearsals);

Proficiency in French, and / or Dutch (to be used during the performance);

Experience with improvised acting / improvised comedy / participatory theatre;

Ability to directly interact and ‘play’ with audiences as a character and to improvise on unexpected reactions from the audience;

Interest in playing between realistic play, a serious message, comedy and absurdism;

Affinity with the theme of migration is an advantage.
